Biography

Tyrone L.E. Fitzgerald
Senior Counsel & Head of Chambers

Tyrone L. E. Fitzgerald attended the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada and the University of Leeds, Leeds, England, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Bachelor of Laws degree, respectively.

In 1995, Mr. Fitzgerald was called to the Bar of England and Wales and The Bar of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. He later attended the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, England, where he obtained a Master of Laws degree in Corporate and Commercial Law.

After the completion of his studies, Mr. Fitzgerald worked for two years as an associate in the Company Department of the Chambers of Messrs Higgs & Johnson. He also served as the Registrar of Examinations for the Bahamas Bar Association.

Mr. Fitzgerald spent two and a half years at Citco Bank & Trust Company (Bahamas) Limited as Client Relationship/Compliance Manager and In-house Legal Counsel. He later joined Halsbury Chambers, a commercial law practice, as a law partner in July 2001 and served as an elected member of The Bahamas Bar Council, the governing body of The Bahamas Bar Association, in 2003.

Mr. Fitzgerald established the Chambers of Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald, an integrative, multi-disciplinary commercial law practice, in April 2004, where he is currently Senior Counsel and Head of Chambers, specializing in corporate and commercial law.

He is a part-time lecturer in Banking, Compliance, and Trust Law at the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services, and a member of the Bahamas Bar Association, International Bar Association (Capital Markets and Section on Business Law), American Bar Association (Associate Member), National Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association (Affiliate Member), Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers (BACO), Commonwealth Lawyers Association, American Management Association, and a Fellow of The Cambridge Commonwealth Trust. Mr. Fitzgerald is also a contributing writer to The Guide to Financial Services in The Bahanas 2002 ("The Mutual Funds Industry : Legislation and Regulation" and "Mutual Fund Administration") and columnist of a fortnightly column, "Legal Ease", in the Business Section of The Tribune, a daily newspaper in The Bahamas.

Mr. Fitzgerald is the Managing Director and President of FTP Corporate Services Ltd, a licensed financial and corporate service provider, and Chief Executive Officer of Fitzgerald Consulting Group, Ltd. , a financial services consulting company, both subsidiary companies of the TLE Fitzgerald Group of Companies Ltd.
